The Path to a Career

BASIC NEEDS ANALYSIS

I am not a man of high standards or unreasonable requests. Well, I do hope I am within reason. When it comes to a workplace "of my dreams" I am just fine with a calm and relaxed enviromnent. Colleagues would be supportive but always having constructie critiscism to offer. I am not fond of a competetive surrounding, having people constantly trying to out-do each other is some form or another. I am that type who always compete with myself anyway, I don't need to be reminded by others to never stop challenge my skills and cunning.

But in terms of the workplace itself I would say I am basic in the needs of practicality and hygiene. I want a computer to work on, along with a table and a chair. That's about it. I would prefer to be able to get to my computer, that the workplace keeps littering and garbage to a minimum. I am no stranger to cleaning and washing dishes, as long as it doesn't gets in the way of my work. Well, those are the minimum "conditions" I would prefer the workplace to be, but I'm no fool, the requirements can be bent a little if needed.

So long as I work with the models and textures I do believe that I can attain the satisfaction of the job I want. There is not much to it, I will keep working on my art and thus I allow my capacities to grow and my experience to expand. And with all the experience I have, I know how to make a work enviromnent healthy and calm. How to relax with co-workers without interrupting any work and how to take my respnsibilty for a good work area. It's so important that it all ties together that fashion, it will ease the stress of workers and still maintain a high work-flow.

PREDICTIONS

If my predictions are correct then I will become a professional 3D artist with all the neccessary skillsets for me to handle the job. That would then be very useful in any employent I want. Especially when I would dwelve deeper into the reasons why 3D art provides more complexity and advance the visual medium that I am currently doing. This would open up more potential for an collaberated understanding of why and how 3D can work at a much more effective level than 2D.

So with the large amount of knowledge, and some experience to boot, I would at least provide a bit of competence in a team of co-workers. During storming and norming stages of work, I would provide ideas which have not been used yet and come up with new ways to solve various obstacles. It may not always be useful but at least I try my best and give it my all. With the amount of research I have done in the 3D subject, the potential for better 3D art can be garuanteed. Last but not least, this is something I know from experience with other teams. When leaders are egotistical and full of themselves or open-minded and constructive. I know both sides. I know how to handle them, through social interactions and through my work. I back it all up with knowledge and experience, of competence and capacity.

STUDY GOALS

The goals I have with my studies of the complexity and effectiveness of 3D art can be used with the goal methodology "S.M.A.R.T" and can be determined in the different components. Yet this study is completely individual and has no collaberating process at all.

But the goals for my career are vastly different than those in my studies, in most ways at least. The jobs I truly wish to land are:

1. Professional 3D Enviromnental Artist.
2. Professional 3D Character Artist.
3. Professional Level Designer.

But though my studies there is still a chance for me to attain a job, which probably is very different but interesting. The places whhich I wish to attain through my studies and potential are the following:

1. Lead Artist
2. Game Designer
3. Project Leader.

High hopes, but I man can dream.

So, in all the talk of work-flow, competence and experience in my other article, how will my career goals be achieved through my studies and general schedule of this last school year? Simple, I keep at it. The experience is though modelling and researching. I will use the knowledge and experience to add up my potential as an employee. Just as easy as that, really. Sadly no one else gains anything directly though my work. I don't plan to study and model with any co-workers so that is probably a wasted opportunity, in a way. Yet I don't really think any of my goals are that hard to actually achieve in a more realistic sense. Just keep up my research and competence and the problems will be solved and done. Just as any other obstacle...
